The mission of the PTA is to support the education of all children. PTA members spend thousands of volunteer hours every year helping students, teachers, and staff at Jesse Wharton Elementary. The JWES PTA is made up of 6 board members. We are a source of information, advice and support. All are welcome to come to a PTA meeting and share in discussions about our school.
In 2007-2008, the PTA provided new basketball hoops with height adjusters for the gym, new frames for student art, new instruments for music, books for library, two voice amplification systems, WritePads for kindergarten, CD/cassette listening centers for 1st grade, AverKeys for 2nd/4th/5th grades, improvements on the 3-5 playground, educational software, first aid/AED training, grants to EC/AL/ESL departments, and much more. The PTA supports our teachers with classroom and event volunteers as well as hospitality programs. The goal of the 2007-2009 PTA board is to enhance the educational environment in every classroom with new technology and supplies. Teachers are working together to develop prioritized lists of items that will help them teach and will help children learn most effectively. Suggested items include expanded classroom libraries, voice amplification systems, Smartboards, AverKeys, ELMO systems, and a mobile computer lab. Please help us raise $140,000 to work towards making every classroom a "model" classroom at Jesse Wharton Elementary.
