PTA Rocks!
The mission of the PTA is to support the education of all children. PTA members spend thousands of volunteer hours every year helping students, teachers, and staff at Jesse Wharton Elementary. The JWES PTA is made up of 6 board members. We are a source of information, advice and support. All are welcome to come to a PTA meeting and share in discussions about our school.
In 2009-2010, the PTA provided eight voice amplification systems, assisted Jesse Wharton families during the holidays and with clothing exchanges, and updated the teachers' lounges. The PTA supports our teachers with classroom and event volunteers as well as hospitality programs. To find out more about how you can become involved in these and other programs, look for volunteer sign ups.
Our two major fundraisers are the sale of Innisbrook wrapping paper and other items in the fall, and the Walk-a-thon in the spring. You can also choose to give a cash or check donation to the Friends of Jesse Wharton. There are many other ways you can contribute financially to the school, such as linking your Harris Teeter VIC card (#2576), clipping "Box Tops" and "Labels for Education", and attending restaurant and skate nights. Be sure to watch this Box Top video and enter to win 5,000 bonus points for our school.
